• He was doing it again, he was hitting my mum, I knew he was going to hurt her if he continued hitting her like that so I left where I was hiding with my younger sister and rushed to my mum's side, I shielded her with my body and the next punch landed on my back making me groan.
• "Liam, stop! Go away from here," my mum said trying to push me away from her but I hugged her tight against my chest, I could hear the monster I called my dad yelling and cussing, I heard as he dragged the steel rod across the floor and I felt the rod land hard on my back, he hit me over and over till I passed out.
