Chapter 2 : The Bride of the Forced Marriage
- A few days later, it was the day for the Gu family to come and pick up the bride.
- The entire Shen family was silent.
- Jiang Yue sat on the sofa in a traditional Chinese dress, accompanied by her uncle's family.
- Su Zhong and his wife looked at Jiang Yue with a disdainful face and said, "You're getting married and yet you look like this. Who are you trying to impress?"
- "Who are you glaring at? If it weren't for the presence of my family, do you think I would willingly sit here and wait with you?" Jiang Yue retorted.
- Aunt Zhang Fenghong sneered sarcastically, her eyes occasionally falling on the bracelet on Jiang Yue's wrist.
- This precious thing, that wretched girl doesn't deserve it!
- Suddenly, there was a commotion from upstairs.
- Su Miaomiao appeared at the top of the stairs in a gorgeous evening gown, gracefully descending step by step until she stood in front of Jiang Yue.
- She raised her hand and adjusted her dress, smirking proudly. "Tonight, I will attend the Gu family wedding banquet as Shen Lin's fiancée, while you will be confined to the backyard of the Gu family, never to see the light of day again."
- She had always been jealous of Jiang Yue. Before, Jiang Yue was showered with love from her parents, and even after losing her father, she was taken in by the Shen family and engaged to Shen Lin, the heir of the Shen family.
- What a stroke of luck!
- Fortunately, she had ruined Jiang Yue's life with her scheming, and now she was the lucky one!
- She would become the most dazzling presence, while Jiang Yue would be trapped in misery forever.
- "So what? Do you think you can become the mistress of the Shen family just like that?"
- Jiang Yue sneered, looking up and down at Su Miaomiao. "I don't know if you've heard a saying: a mountain chicken can never become a phoenix. Even if you stick a few chicken feathers on yourself, you'll still be nothing but a mismatched mess!"
- "You!" Su Miaomiao became furious and raised her hand to strike.
- Little did she know that Jiang Yue was prepared and slapped her first.
- Jiang Yue leaned in close to Su Miaomiao, her voice low and cold. "You better behave, or else if you anger me, I will make you pay a painful price."
- Su Miaomiao felt a chill run through her body. She had forgotten to fight back and stared blankly as Jiang Yue walked out of the living room.
- Just as she regained her senses, she saw the car lights flashing outside. The Gu family had arrived just now.
- Zhang Fenghong, seeing Su Miaomiao being bullied, was filled with anger and was about to rush over. Although Su Miaomiao felt resentful, she had to stop Zhang Fenghong.
- "Mom, it's the Gu family."
- Gu Jinyan was as good as dead, but the reputation of the Gu family was still intact.
- Moreover, she was going to attend the Gu family wedding banquet later.
- Thinking of this, Su Miaomiao couldn't help but feel that Jiang Yue was lucky.
- She was just a bride of a forced marriage, yet the Gu family had organized a banquet and invited only a few people.
- But it didn't matter. As long as Gu Jinyan died, Jiang Yue would have no chance to turn things around. She would have to come back and beg her!
- ---
- After getting in the car, Jiang Yue wiped away the tears on her face, looking exhausted, and unknowingly fell asleep.
- Luckily, she didn't have to make an appearance at the wedding banquet. The car drove directly into the backyard of the Gu family.
- And she was taken to the new room.
- As soon as she entered, Jiang Yue felt a chill and smelled the scent of medicine in the air.
- There were red ribbons everywhere that didn't match the overall decor.
- Jiang Yue cautiously moved forward and saw a lifelike mannequin head lying on the bed, which startled her and made her scream.
- "Annoying."
- She regained her senses and noticed a man sitting in a wheelchair by the window, his face pale and almost transparent under the moonlight.
- The man was somewhat thin, but his features were sharp, and his gaze was chilling when he caught sight of her.
- It was said that Gu Jinyan had become disabled three years ago. Looking at the man in the wheelchair, Jiang Yue had her answer.
- "Are you the person they sent over?"
- Gu Jinyan looked her up and down, his eyes filled with mockery.
- He was almost dying, yet those people still didn't trust him and specially sent this woman to stay by his side and monitor him.
- Jiang Yue stood still, not quite understanding Gu Jinyan's meaning.
- Butler spoke respectfully, "Yes, she was sent by the other side, and Madam agreed."
- "Leave."
- The butler left the room, considerately closing the door.
- "What? Didn't my good brother Gu Pingyi teach you how to serve?" Jiang Yue was puzzled.
- Wasn't she the bride of the forced marriage?
- Gu Jinyan looked at her with disdain and sneered. "Since you're willing to marry me, you should know that I am disabled! Disappointed? Scared? Even if your husband is disabled, you have to accept it!"
- Jiang Yue dared not look at him anymore, her eyes filled with tears, but she didn't dare to complain even if she felt wronged.
- She did willingly marry into this family.
- For the sake of her mother on the sickbed, all she could do now was to please Gu Jinyan and hope to improve her situation.
- But now it seemed that Gu Jinyan had an inexplicable disgust towards her.
- "As a wife, what should you do?"
