Chapter 7 Secrets Unveiled
- “Thirty seconds? Ha!” Xavier sneered scornfully. Thirty seconds is not even sufficient to capture thirty pigs, let alone defeat all these experts that the Quimby family hired at a high price. Each of them possesses remarkable combat skills.
- “I'd love to see how you intend to eliminate my Fiery Tigers in under thirty seconds. Attack! Take him down!”
- Over thirty robust men roared, swarming forward. The floor quaked beneath their charge.
- However, Frederick simply shook his head, his eyes revealing an expression of contempt. They're nothing more than a bunch of fragile trash.
- He roared back. His voice was strong and resonant like a lion's roar, completely drowning out the other party's.
- Following that, he made his move.
- Everyone could only see a dark figure flash before their eyes. In almost an instant, those seemingly powerful Fiery Tigers were all struck and sent flying into the air.
- At that moment, Frederick resembled a ferocious tiger while those so-called experts were like mere sheep, utterly powerless to resist.
- With every punch he threw, his opponent was sent flying, spitting out blood.
- Frederick had even shown restraint. Otherwise, the Fiery Tigers would have been corpses by now.
- When the last person was flying, precisely thirty seconds passed.
- The scene was filled with a chorus of wails.
- Yet, Frederick was completely unruffled, not even panting in the slightest. Subsequently, he returned to stand quietly behind Finneas.
- Upon witnessing the scene, Xavier was stunned, his mouth agape.
- “T-This can't be possible!” Xavier muttered, staggering two steps back.
- Fear gradually crept into his heart.
- Not just him but everyone present, especially the Quimby family members, were all utterly astounded.
- Even Zachariah, who was also from a military background, was left completely dumbfounded. How could Finneas and his subordinates be even more terrifying than what the reports suggested? Who exactly are they?
- Suddenly, he realized that the forces he had prepared were simply not enough.
- However, before anyone could react, Finneas took a step forward leisurely up to Xavier, who was attempting to escape.
- “W-What are you trying to do?” Xavier was terrified beyond measure, his voice quivering with fear.
- Finneas gave a cold, detached laugh before he abruptly took action. A series of sickening crunches echoed as he crushed Xavier's legs and feet.
- With a scream akin to a pig being slaughtered, the once arrogant and tyrannical scion experienced a complete mental breakdown.
- The bones in his limbs were comminuted. Even his meridians were destroyed. He was destined to spend the rest of his life confined to a wheelchair.
- Finneas didn't kill Xavier so the latter could witness the downfall of the Quimby family with his own eyes.
- Everyone exchanged glances, their eyes filled with fear. What on earth has the Quimby family gotten themselves into?
- Among those who came to celebrate Hugo's birthday, the timid ones were breaking out in cold sweats, their legs trembling uncontrollably. They were on the verge of turning tail and running.
- “You!” With trembling hands, Caspian pointed at Finneas, unable to find his words.
- Caspian had always doted on Xavier, resulting in the latter developing a domineering and arrogant personality. Still, Caspian wouldn't allow anyone to harm his son.
- Yet, at that moment, the head of the Quimby family dared not make a single move.
- With a swift move, Finneas grabbed onto Xavier's collar, his voice resonating deeply as he said, “Now, will you talk?”
- “I'll speak. I'll speak. It wasn't me. None of this was my doing. Please, don't kill me. I beg you. Please don't kill me.”
- In the face of the threat of death, Xavier lost his previous arrogance and calm composure. He pleaded with Finneas for mercy again and again.
- Finneas' expression grew even darker after he heard those words. As I expected, the situation is not as simple as it seems.
- As Xavier took in Finneas' hesitation, his fear intensified. He stammered, “I-I was just following orders. Someone instructed me to snatch Yolanda from Joaquin.”
- “Who was it?” Finneas' voice was cold, his gaze icy.
- “I-I've never met that person, nor do I know who he is. I just accepted a hundred million from him. Plus, Yolanda was attractive, to begin with, so I...” Xavier said, his voice trembling.
- Finneas stared at Xavier. He believed that under the threat of death, Xavier wouldn't dare to lie.
- However, from his words, Finneas keenly sensed something. Perhaps the real target of the person behind Xavier wasn't Yolanda, but rather, it was Joaquin. But Joaquin has always kept to himself, so how could he have possibly offended such a mysterious power so easily?
- The situation suddenly became utterly bewildering.
- “What else do you know?” Finneas narrowed his eyes and spoke.
- A cold gleam flashed across his gaze, a storm of fury brewing within them.
- Xavier didn't dare to conceal anything. He tried hard to recall the events of that day. “Back then, when I first saw that person, he was wearing a mask and a hat. It was impossible to discern his face. However, judging by the accent, he's a local of Hofcaster.”
- Finneas thought. The Quimby family also resides in Hofcaster, so there's no way Xavier could have misheard. If that's the case, the scope of the search is significantly narrowed down.
- “That's right. T-There's one more thing.” Xavier's eyes widened. “I remember that person had a prominent scar on his neck!”
- After he finished speaking, Xavier let out a sigh, seemingly seeing a glimmer of hope to survive. I don't want to die. I still have my prime years to live through.
- “Excellent! You've managed to save your own life.” With a low voice, Finneas began to speak slowly.
- Xavier also breathed a sigh of relief. Being able to stay alive is good enough.
- “However...” Finneas' voice echoed once more, instantly causing Xavier's heart to tighten with anxiety. “You don't have to die, but you can't escape punishment!”
- As soon as Finneas finished speaking, he immediately flung Xavier away.
- Consequently, Xavier was hurled like a cannonball, colliding with a wall about five or six meters away with a thunderous crash. The impact was so intense that his body seemed to indent into the wall.
- “You... Pfft!” Xavier spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, his face filled with resentment as he glanced at Finneas.
- His head tilted to the side, and he promptly fell unconscious.
- Upon witnessing the scene, everyone's eyes were wide with astonishment.
- Finneas turned around, his gaze sweeping over the crowd present with a crisp coldness. His facial expression turned even more icy.
- No matter who was truly responsible for pushing Joaquin to death, he was determined to uncover them to honor Joaquin and Yolanda.
- As for Xavier, when it all came down to it, he was nothing more than a mere pawn in someone else's game.
- Finneas figured the punishment of leaving Xavier crippled and living a life worse than death was more than sufficient. Perhaps keeping Xavier alive can lure out the person behind the scenes.
- In the end, Finneas' sharp gaze fell upon Hugo and Caspian. “Caspian, I won't kill your son. However, seven days from now, at Joaquin's funeral, your Quimby family must mourn for him. Otherwise, I won't mind erasing your Quimby family from Hofcaster.”
- Finneas' words resonated profoundly, chilling the others who heard him to their cores.
- After he finished speaking, he and Frederick casually strolled away, leaving the crowd behind in stunned silence.
- It was only when their figures had completely vanished from sight that the people present finally let out a sigh of relief.
- Caspian's body went limp, collapsing onto the ground with a thud.
- After the major commotion, the reputation of the Quimby family was ruined overnight. The Fiery Tigers, their strongest combat force, were completely wiped out.
- As the patriarch of the Quimby family, how could he not be consumed by anxiety and frustration?
- However, what Zachariah said next completely crushed the hopes of the Quimby family.
- “You Quimby family better watch out for yourselves!”
- After Zachariah finished speaking, he left without looking back.
- In the car, Frederick drove and reported, “Lord Lockwood, I've already relayed your command. I've tapped into all our connections within Hofcaster to find the man with the scar on his neck.”
- Although Hofcaster was teeming with millions of people, making it nearly impossible to find a single individual, with Finneas' order, the subordinates would certainly scour the entire city to locate that man.
- “All right.” Finneas let out a soft hum and then leaned back in his chair.
- He shut his eyes, making it impossible to read his emotions.
- Before long, the car came to a halt in front of the grand entrance of Luxe Vista Hotel.
- Before Finneas went to the Quimby family, he had temporarily arranged for Suzannah to stay there.
- Suzannah was Joaquin and Yolanda's orphaned child as well as his own niece. No matter what, he couldn't allow her to suffer any further injustice. That was also Joaquin's final wish.
- Just as he was about to ascend the stairs, a phone call came through.
- Finneas pressed the answer button, and an urgent voice immediately came through the phone. “Hello, may I confirm if you're a family member of Mr. Joaquin Lockwood? Currently, Mr. Lockwood's body has mysteriously disappeared from our funeral home. We would appreciate it if you could come over.”
