Chapter 6 My Name Is Finneas

  • Upon seeing Finneas daring to slight even Colbert, Xavier curled his lips into a disdainful smirk. What a fool. Of all people to offend, he's affronting Old Mr. Zeller. Isn't this just asking for trouble? He's a brute as I thought. Such a man is hardly worth fearing. With a little bit of strategy, I can easily cause his death.
  • At that thought, Xavier turned his gaze toward Colbert, his face filled with righteous indignity as he spoke. “Old Mr. Zeller, you don't need to worry about me. I refuse to believe he would dare to harm me in front of you and all these esteemed guests.”
  • Xavier strategically made concessions to gain advantages, and he believed Colbert would fall for his scheme.
  • Sure enough, upon hearing his words, Colbert immediately revealed a look of pride. He thumped his chest and assured, “Rest easy, Mr. Xavier. With me by your side, no one can lay a finger on you.”
  • Finneas could clearly see through Xavier's little tricks, but he chose not to pay them any mind.
  • In the face of absolute power, all schemes and tricks were futile.
  • Finneas wasn't going to take someone like Colbert seriously.
  • He stared icily at Colbert and said, “You have three seconds to get out of here. Otherwise, you're dead.”
  • “Ha!” Colbert, seething with anger, let out a scornful laugh. He said, “I came here to advise you out of goodwill, but since you refuse to appreciate it, don't blame me for being uncourteous.”
  • No sooner had the words been spoken than Colbert took a sudden step forward, launching a punch straight toward Finneas' face.
  • Although Colbert was no longer young, his skills were truly exceptional. His punches were swift and powerful. The sight of it instantly stirred up waves of astonishment and cheers among the crowd.
  • In their opinion, Colbert could knock Finneas down with just one punch.
  • However, just as Colbert's fist was about ten centimeters away from Finneas, it suddenly came to a halt.
  • His movements stopped out of the blue, much like a frozen television screen.
  • “What's going on?” Colbert was profoundly shaken.
  • He felt an invisible force standing in his way. Despite giving it his all, he couldn't move forward even half a step.
  • Could this person be a martial arts Grandmaster who has already honed his energy? Suddenly, a terrifying thought crossed Colbert's mind.
  • However, he quickly dismissed the idea. The man in front of me appears to be in his early twenties. How could he possibly be a martial arts Grandmaster? There isn't even a Grandmaster below the age of thirty in the entire Hofcaster.
  • However, before he had the chance to think any further, Finneas suddenly took a step forward.
  • Suddenly, Colbert felt an overwhelming force slamming into him. It sent him flying like a cannonball, crashing directly into a wall ten meters away. Cracks spread out on the wall in all directions where he hit, with him at the epicenter.
  • “You!”
  • Colbert's eyes bulged dramatically as if they were about to pop out of his skull. Following that, he felt a metallic taste in his throat and spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.
  • Before he could finish his sentence, his head tilted to one side, and he fainted straight away.
  • Colbert had suffered an instant defeat.
  • This man actually took down the esteemed vice president of the martial arts association, a renowned martial arts master of the Hofcaster, in an instant? Moreover, he didn't even lift a finger. Who exactly is he? This is so scary! Everyone's eyes widened, their gaze trained on Finneas as he steadily approached Xavier.
  • At that moment, Finneas' clothes fluttered without wind, his aura pulsating powerfully around him. He was an enigma, a force that was simply unstoppable.
  • The sight before Xavier's eyes struck him with such fear that it chilled him to the bone. He didn't dare to linger, turning on his heels and fleeing.
  • However, Finneas didn't give him another chance. Under everyone's watchful eyes, he strode forward, and in the blink of an eye, he had caught up with Xavier.
  • With a swift kick, he brutally struck Xavier's knee.
  • With a dull thud, Xavier found himself kneeling straight down.
  • A wave of excruciating pain washed over him, draining the color from his face instantly. Yet, he displayed an impressive resilience, managing to suppress himself from shrieking.
  • “Oh my, what did this person do? He actually dared to hit Mr. Xavier at the Quimby residence?”
  • “It's over. This person is doomed. Given the Quimby family's resources and power, they can easily do away with him as they do some insects.”
  • “It's hard to say. We've seen both individuals' capabilities. In my opinion, the outcome remains uncertain.”
  • At that moment, every individual within the mansion had their attention riveted on Finneas. Astonishment and shock were written all over their faces.
  • Even Zachariah, amidst the crowd, couldn't help but furrow his brows.
  • Zachariah had anticipated Finneas' retaliation, but he never imagined it would come so swiftly and decisively.
  • “Halt! You've got some nerve, daring to cause trouble and harm people in the Quimby residence!”
  • At that moment, Hugo, leading the head of the Quimby family, who was also Xavier's father, Caspian, strode over.
  • The moment Caspian caught sight of the exposed broken bone at Xavier's knee, a fierce glare instantly ignited in his eyes, and he couldn't help but let out a feral roar.
  • As knowledgeable as he was, he could tell at a glance that Xavier was likely crippled and would have to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair, given the extent of the injury.
  • “Who are you? Why are you doing this? How has the Quimby family wronged you?” roared Caspian.
  • However, Finneas completely ignored him.
  • He knocked Xavier down with a swift kick under everyone's watchful gaze. Then, placing his right foot on Xavier's head, he asked coldly, “Do you have any last words?”
  • “How audacious!” Caspian bellowed, shaking all over with rage, his anger seething as he stormed toward Finneas.
  • However, Finneas merely shot him a cold glance. The foot he had lifted could no longer fall, and he came to an abrupt halt.
  • In that brief moment, he felt as if he had been marked by the Grim Reaper himself.
  • Xavier was terrified, his face drained of all color. He swallowed hard, struggling to find his voice. “W-Who are you? I d-don't recognize you. Even if you want to kill me, at least let me know why.”
  • “My name is Finneas Lockwood. Joaquin is my elder brother.” Finneas looked at Xavier, his voice cold as he spoke.
  • Xavier shuddered, yet his facial expression underwent an unexpected transformation.
  • A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth, laced with a hint of mockery and a touch of coldness. He said, “So, you're that dead guy's younger brother.”
  • “You asked for it!” Finneas' murderous intent intensified.
  • Just as he was about to stomp down, Xavier's voice echoed once again.
  • “Don't you want to know the real reason behind Joaquin's death?” A cold smirk tugged at the corner of Xavier's mouth.
  • Finneas' descending foot halted midway. He cast a cold gaze toward Xavier, remaining silent.
  • “Ha! If you kill me, you can kiss the truth goodbye in this lifetime.” Xavier pushed away Finneas' foot and struggled to rise from the ground.
  • Just then, a flurry of footsteps echoed from the main entrance.
  • Everyone turned their heads, only to see a group of burly men dressed in suits, exuding an air of menace. They were armed with various weapons and charged in with an overwhelming presence.
  • “This is the Fiery Tigers! They're the strongest guards of the Quimby family!”
  • The crowd recognized the origins of the newcomers, which immediately sparked waves of gasps.
  • The Fiery Tigers was a security force that the Quimby family had hired at a steep price. They were mostly made up of veterans, even including mercenaries who had participated in wars and taken lives.
  • This wasn't something ordinary security could match. The Fiery Tigers wouldn't be dispatched lightly.
  • Once they were deployed, that signified the utmost gravity of the situation.
  • Seeing the group of over thirty from the Fiery Tigers, Xavier regained his confidence. When fighting alone, these individuals are no match for Colbert. However, if there are three or five of them, they can easily take Colbert down. Now, with thirty people showing up all at once, what could you, Finneas, possibly do no matter how formidable you are?
  • Xavier leisurely straightened his clothes, a smug grin creeping onto his face. Teasingly, he said, “I know you've been a soldier and are a capable fighter. I'm curious to see just how good you really are. Here's your chance. Take all these men down, and I'll tell you the truth.”
  • Finneas' icy voice sounded. “Frederick, you have thirty seconds to eliminate them.”
