Chapter 5 Decisive Action

  • Finneas' aura was overwhelmingly powerful, so much so that no one dared to step forward to stop him.
  • The entire security team of the Quimby family was on high alert, allowing Finneas to stride into the mansion unobstructed.
  • B*stard!
  • Today is a day of great celebration for the Quimby family, yet this man has the audacity to show up looking like that. Isn't it obvious that he's here to cause trouble?
  • A glint of icy determination flashed in Xavier's eyes as a surge of anger welled up in his heart.
  • The surrounding guests also gathered together, discussing in hushed pairs and small groups.
  • “He exudes such an intense aura. Merely a glance at him made my heart skip a beat.”
  • “Lower your voice. We can't afford to mess with people like him. Besides, judging by his outfit, he's definitely here to stir up trouble.”
  • “Who is he? I've never heard of such a character in Hofcaster.”
  • The commotion within the crowd immediately caught Zachariah's attention.
  • Upon seeing Finneas' face, filled with murderous intent, even the usually stoic Zachariah couldn't help but draw in a sharp breath.
  • What he feared the most had come true.
  • As he listened to the murmurs of the guests, Xavier's expression grew increasingly grim.
  • He quickened his pace, angrily pushing through the crowd to stand in front of Finneas. He barked, “Stop right there. What do you think you're doing? Don't you know today is a big day for the Quimby family? If you don't want any trouble, get lost immediately!”
  • “I'm looking for someone.”
  • Finneas stopped in his tracks. He looked at Hugo, who was standing at the front, before shifting his gaze to Xavier.
  • “Looking for someone? Ridiculous! Everyone who came here today is either wealthy or noble. The Quimby family doesn't even know a piece of trash like you. I'm giving you a chance. If you don't leave now, you won't be able to leave later!”
  • Ignoring Xavier's ranting, Finneas continued expressionlessly, “I'm looking for Xavier Quimby.”
  • “Xavier Quimby?” Xavier was momentarily taken aback before flashing a contorted smile. “You're looking for me? I'm sorry, but I don't think we've met.”
  • “You're Xavier Quimby?” Finneas fixed his gaze on Xavier, taking a moment to size him up. “Kneel.”
  • What?
  • The moment Finneas' words left his mouth, not just Xavier, but even the surrounding guests wore expressions of utter bewilderment.
  • “Did I hear that right? He must be crazy to demand Xavier to kneel.”
  • “He really did say that. My goodness, in all my years in Hofcaster, this is the first time I've ever heard anyone dare to speak to the Quimbys in such a manner.”
  • “This is interesting, One is a local big shot, and the other is a tiger unleashed.”
  • The more the guests spoke in such a manner, the grimmer Xavier's expression became.
  • The first factor was Finneas' comment, which felt like a challenge to him. Secondly, he was appalled that these guests dared to compare him, the son of the Quimby family, with a nobody.
  • In his view, this was nothing short of an insult.
  • With a grim expression, Xavier turned to Quintus behind him and said, “Break his legs. We'll discuss his intentions after the banquet is over.”
  • “Yes, Mr. Xavier!”
  • Quintus' insight was much sharper than Xavier's. Even though he had long ago discerned that Xavier was up to no good, in such a situation, he absolutely wouldn't tolerate any reckless behavior from Finneas.
  • He had no choice but to brace himself and push through.
  • Under Quintus' command, about a dozen of the Quimby family's security guards rushed out. They encircled Finneas in the center, each of them holding a baton.
  • In reality, these security guards were also silently suffering inside.
  • Though they were holding batons in their hands and had the advantage of numbers, they couldn't help but feel a chilling fear when facing Finneas.
  • It was as if they were not confronting a mere person, but the God of Death, an unparalleled deity who could rip them apart at any moment.
  • “Get him!”
  • Upon Quintus' command, the security guards steeled themselves as they raised their batons to strike at Finneas.
  • Finneas stood his ground, radiating an air of defiance. He didn't even blink an eye.
  • Just as the batons were about to smash down on Finneas' head, a sudden shadow flashed by.
  • Two sharp cries echoed, and the two security guards who had acted first were already on the ground, wailing in pain, clutching their broken wrists.
  • “This...”
  • The remaining security guards swallowed hard, their eyes fixed on Frederick who had suddenly appeared before Finneas. They all halted in unison, no one daring to step forward.
  • They didn't really see how Frederick had appeared.
  • The formidable strength of Frederick only heightened their fear.
  • Xavier's heart leaped into his throat. He roared, “What are you waiting for? Get him, break his legs, and I'll reward you with a hundred thousand!”
  • Two more security guards were swayed by the allure of money. Blinded by greed, they once again raised their batons and charged forward.
  • However, before they even had a chance to react, they felt a sharp pain in their lower abdomen.
  • The two security guards were flung away like cannonballs, taking out a crowd of people in their path.
  • With nothing but his own strength, Frederick managed to overpower more than a dozen security guards on the scene, leaving them utterly defenseless and crying out in pain.
  • The security guards couldn't take it anymore. Money was great, but they needed to be alive to spend it.
  • In a flash, the remaining security guards dropped their batons, each of them fleeing from the mansion with shouts of alarm.
  • “You guys...”
  • Xavier's heart sank. His handsome face was drenched in a cold sweat.
  • Watching Finneas approach step by step, his aura filled with murderous intent, Xavier swallowed nervously. Instinctively, he stepped back, wanting nothing more than to put some distance between himself and Finneas.
  • “Stop!”
  • A thunderous shout echoed. An imposing elder strode forward, positioning himself between Finneas and Xavier.
  • Upon seeing that person, everyone collectively drew in a sharp breath.
  • “My goodness, it's Colbert , the Vice President of the Han River Martial Arts Association!”
  • “Old Mr. Zeller is a renowned expert, a true standout in the martial arts scene of Hofcaster!”
  • “With him stepping in, any issue can be resolved.”
  • Upon hearing the compliments from the crowd, Colbert couldn't help but flash a smug smile.
  • From the start, he didn't make a move simply because he was waiting for the right moment.
  • Only by stepping forward at the most crucial moments could he demonstrate his value, earning the favor of the Quimby family, thereby fostering a better relationship with them.
  • Colbert cleared his throat, placed his hands behind his back, and said, “Young man, sometimes it's better to let things slide. Do me a favor and let's consider this matter closed.”
  • Finneas stared at Colbert coldly, his voice icy as he commanded, “Get lost!”
  • Colbert's face darkened.
  • He was, after all, the esteemed vice president of the Hofcaster Martial Arts Association. Everyone would have to show him respect wherever he went.
  • Yet, Finneas had the audacity to show such disrespect, leaving him wondering where to hide his embarrassment.
  • “Young man, it's better to keep a low profile in life and heed the advice of your elders,” Colbert said seriously, an aura of authority subtly emanating from him.
  • The intensity of the atmosphere was so strong that even the ordinary people present could clearly sense it, and they all showed expressions of astonishment.
  • “You're not yet qualified to lecture me.”
  • Finneas' voice was incredibly calm, but that calmness sent chills down everyone's spine.
  • They all drew in a sharp breath as they looked at Finneas with surprise.
  • He was the first person in Hofcaster who dared to speak to Colbert in such a manner.
  • It was utterly outrageous.
