Chapter 48 I'm So Sorry

• Under Charles's supervision and care, I rested for a few days. My wounds had mostly healed, leaving only pale pink scars. Dr. Jonny gave me some scar cream and told me to put it on my body every day after I took a shower. I forgot to do this occasionally, but Charles would aggressively lift up my clothes and carefully apply the ointment. I was a little embarrassed at first, but it doesn't matter now. After a week, my scars faded, leaving only faint white marks.
• Last night, Charles's fingers lingered over the scars on my body. He blew gently at them and kissed them. It was supposed to be an ambiguous scene, but I wasn't in the mood to enjoy it. I looked at the scars on my body in a trance. Their presence reminds me that I have not avenged Eva.
