Chapter 25
- The next day, it rained. When Yang Yu woke up, his left eye kept twitching. He just had the feeling that something was about to happen.
- Yang Yu’s uncle was dressed in a raincoat that was made with some kind of fur, something that could shield him from the rain like a typical raincoat that he could wear. He brought his billhook with him. The billhook was standard gear when climbing up the mountain. As long as you went up the mountain, you’d take the billhook along, regardless of whether you were going to use it or not.
- Yang Yu’s aunt advised his uncle to refrain from going up the mountain since the paths were slippery from the rain, making it easy for accidents to happen. Despite this, Yang Yu’s uncle would not listen. He shouted that their entire income for the year depended on their fish farm. They had managed to raise a bounty of fish last year with much difficulty, only for the farm to overflow in a heavy storm. All the fish had ended up into the river, and the villagers caught them. Yang Yu’s uncle had been desperate enough to hit them, but fortunately for him, the village chief helped put in a word for him. The villagers even returned some of the fish to him, but Yang Yu’s uncle could not sell the fish anymore. This year, Yang Yu’s uncle had prepared to watch over that fish farm carefully, only to find out that widow Mrs. Liu’s son, that Stupid Niu, had stolen quite a few of them. It made Yang Yu’s uncle so furious, he had stood over there screaming the whole day.
