• A few minutes later, I left home, walking to Samantha's house to introduce her to the city. I walked the few blocks that separated our houses, and soon I was ringing her doorbell.
• She answered the door wearing jeans, a black sweater, and her hair in a ponytail with a few loose strands falling over her face. She had a sheen of sweat on her forehead, revealing that she was working hard at something.
