Lionel rose to his feet, his towering figure almost engulfing Eileen's petite frame. An invisible pressure and danger enveloped her. Eileen took a step back, but Lionel continued to advance, cornering her against the wall until she had nowhere else to retreat. With one hand propped against the wall behind her, Lionel slowly leaned in.
In a moment of urgency, Eileen blurted out, “Lionel, you've been deceiving Natalie for so long. Doesn't she hold even the slightest place in your heart?”
Eileen was gambling, betting that Lionel still harbored at least a shred of affection for Natalie.
