• Ace returned with Olivia’s drink a moment later, and she thanked him. “So, Ace,” Olivia said as he turned to leave, making him pause and give her his attention again. He rested his hands on the bar as he prepared to hear her out. Olivia reached out and touched him, laying a hand atop his, and Ace glanced down at it curiously. “I wanted to come here today to apologize for my mother’s behavior and the silly stories she writes about your gang—” Olivia told him, deciding to use her mother’s lack of tact as her reason for being there.
• “Oh, yeah…” Ace said, folding his arms across his chest, a smirk tugging on his lips. Damn it, if Olivia didn’t want to grab him and kiss it right off his face. “Does she know you’re down here?”
• “Of course not,” Olivia replied with a fake giggle.
