Chapter 5 Gamma Twins
- ~Devonte~
- I zip my duffle bag up and carry it out of the room. The transport will be here soon with the prisoner we will be in charge of. Once they get here, we will head over to Emerald Lake pack. I’ve never been to that pack, but I haven’t heard anything bad about it.
- I wonder if our mate is there, and I hope she isn’t. My brother and I are identical twins and will share a mate. I worry about that because we are two very different people. I can’t imagine what type of she-wolf would be enough for both of us.
- I pound on my brother’s door as I walk past it. I’m sure he’s still asleep. He has no sense of timing or rules, or etiquette. It amazes me that we are two halves of a whole because we are polar opposites much of the time. I learned long ago to focus on what I need to do and not worry about what my brother is and isn’t doing.
- The elevator is empty, and I’m glad about that. I hate running across the women of this pack because they are relentless and shameless. They won’t hesitate to throw themselves at me simply because I’m a royal. I won’t ever have a ranked position, but they don’t care.
- Once, I was in the elevator, and a she-wolf slid in right before the doors closed. The minute she saw who I was, she was flirting like crazy. Next thing I knew, she was stuffing her panties in my pocket; it was just disgusting! Whether I will have a ranked position or not, I’m of royal blood…..Gamma blood. I won’t take just anyone; everyone is not deserving. There’s a status I have to maintain, a status that she will need to have to be with me. Some will call me snobby or stuck up, but I just understand how things work here and what is and is not allowed.
- I hand my duffel to an Omega to take to the car for me. “I’m surprised that I woke up before you.” I turn around, and sure enough, my brother is sitting on a couch in the waiting room. I’m surprised he’s here before me as well.
- “Couldn’t sleep?”
- “I was out and about last night and just decided to stay up.” I nod and sit in an armchair to wait for the transport.
- “D, baby, there you are.” I look up, and a smile tugs at my lips. My girlfriend, Sonya, is walking toward me. She’s a gorgeous she-wolf and of the right status. She’s the daughter of the former Gamma of The Howlers Pack. Her father became an advisor to the royal court shortly after he stepped down, and she’s been staying here for a while. She’s poised and proper, and it’s been amazing.
- ~Vonte~
- Shit! I can’t stand this bitch, like at all. She’s so fucking stuck up; she thinks she’s better than everyone. The way she treats those who work in the castle is disgusting, but my brother doesn’t see that. He thinks she’s this amazing woman, and she’s not.
- Whatever, not my problem. “Hello, Vonte.” I keep my eyes on my phone and grunt in response.
- Must you be so rude?
- Fuck off. That’s your headache, not mine. Devonte growls and blocks our connection. So he’s mad at me…what else is new? I really just don’t care. I want this transport to hurry and get here so we can go. I actually woke up early this morning because something about this job has me anxious, but it isn’t in a bad way.
- Mace, my wolf, had me up early. He’s been prancing around in my mind and has been extremely annoying. I tried to figure out what’s up with him, but he’s being tight-lipped. I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens at this pack we are going to. I love going to different packs and seeing how they do things. It’s always super interesting. “But, D! I don’t want you to be gone.”
- “I have to go, baby. I have a job to do. I’ll be back before you know it.”
- “What am I supposed to do with you gone?” Oh, Goddess, I want to gag right now. Her voice is whiney as hell, and I just can’t stand her. She’s the epitome of class; I will give her that. She’s always completely put together with her designer clothes. She keeps her nails and makeup on point. She’s a dark chocolate color, which is gorgeous, I will say. As attractive as she is, I’d never in my life deal with her.
- I stand up and walk out of the castle. I know if I stay any longer, I will lose my shit. A big van pulls up to the front of the castle and parks. A man gets out of the passenger side and walks up to me. “We have a prisoner to drop off.”
- “I will sign for them. Is there anything I need to be worried about?”
- “Nah, she’s been pretty out of it since we picked her up. She hasn’t said a word and has been totally compliant. They roughed her up pretty good, so I think she’s still nursing her wounds.” A female prisoner, how interesting. We don’t get too much of that these days.
- He hands me the clipboard, and I sign where marked. I hand the board back while the driver opens the back door. A battered and bruised woman exits the van and walks behind him with her head down. “Here is Adela Colby. She’s your prison transport. If there are any issues, just contact us.” I nod and put gloves on before taking the chain attached to her cuffs. She’s locked down in silver, so I know I don’t have to worry about her getting loose. I take her in, looking at the open wounds and bruises. They must have dosed her with a bit of wolfsbane because she hadn’t completely healed. They tend to do that to maximize suffering.
- “Is that the prisoner?” I turn and look at my brother, lipstick on his lips and neck.
- “Did you ditch the bimbo?” A growl rips through the air, and I smirk. He doesn’t intimidate me in the slightest, and it irritates him, I know. I follow the warrior to our car, tugging the prisoner behind me. I get her settled in, and I jump in the front seat. I watch my brother tongue wrestle with that harpy, and I roll my eyes. Can we go now? We have things to do. I don’t know what it is, but I’m ready to get this started. I have a feeling that my life is going to change.
