Chapter 7 I'll Give You Three Seconds
- Who exactly is the woman who kidnapped me, and is she connected to the old man in any way?
- Troy still couldn't figure out why Donald's orphanage had specifically taken in the eight of them.
- He originally planned to dig deeper and coax some more information, but Lia's phone rang right then.
- Lia's face gradually turned grim after answering the call and hearing the woman's voice on the other end, her eyes filled with anger.
- "Alright, I'll be right there."
- After hanging up the phone, she didn't say anything and immediately hurried out the door.
- Worried that something might have happened, Troy quickly asked, "Lia, what's going on? Why are you in such a rush?"
- Looking at Troy, she hesitated for a moment and told him the truth in the end.
- "Someone is causing trouble at Cass' restaurant, and several of the waiters have already been injured. She even got trapped when she went to handle it."
- As soon as Troy heard this, he was instantly furious. Are they targeting Cass now? They're just asking for death.
- Anyone who dared to harm his seven sisters would pay a heavy price now that he had returned to Eldoria.
- "Lia, I'll go with you. We can watch each other's backs if there are many of them."
- Today, Lia heard from Brittany about how Troy had beaten up some thugs.
- She figured Troy might be able to help after knowing that he could handle himself in a fight, so she nodded in agreement.
- "Donald, I won't be staying for dinner today. I'll bring some wine when I visit next time, and we can have a good chat then.
- "You'd better take care of your health. You're getting on in years, so don't push yourself too hard even if you're still good."
- He cursed angrily, "Mind your own business! You disappear for ten years, come back, and leave again so quickly. Get lost! At least it saves me the trouble of cooking!"
- Troy chuckled but didn't argue back. Then, he quickly followed the hurrying Lia out of the room.
- After they left, the room fell silent again.
- Donald didn't return to his game. Instead, he pulled an old and worn-out phone from his pocket and made a call.
- "He's back..."
- After leaving Donald's place, Lia drove the car as fast as she could toward their destination.
- On the way, Troy asked about Cassandra, and he learned a little about her through Lia's explanation.
- Cassandra's restaurant was located in the most prosperous part of Kingsbury. It had become a renowned dining establishment in just two years due to its prime location and her advanced business strategies.
- Lia finally parked the car at The Vineyard about twenty minutes later. As soon as they got out, they rushed into the restaurant.
- By this time, the restaurant's lobby was already surrounded by onlookers. In the center was a group of people gathered around the restaurant's waiters. Among them stood a woman with a dignified and elegant appearance, exuding a mature and outstanding charm.
- Her long legs wrapped in black stockings under her work skirt were especially striking, perfectly showcasing her full figure.
- The situation was tense, and even Cassandra couldn't understand why something like this was happening today.
- "Carey, what exactly are you trying to do?" Cassandra angrily asked the man with gold-rimmed glasses standing amidst the crowd.
- In response to her question, Carey adjusted his glasses and smiled. "Cassandra, I've asked you several times to go out with me, but you've always turned me down. So, I'll have to use some tough measures since you don't appreciate my kindness!
- "I'll cripple your employees and smash up your restaurant if you don't agree to go out with me today. I'll keep causing trouble here daily. We'll see if anyone dares work for you or customers will still come."
- "You're despicable!"
- Carey sneered and continued, "Getting a woman like you is worth being despicable. I'm giving you three seconds to decide. I'll have to resort to more extreme measures if you don't agree. I've heard forcing someone can be quite an experience, so I might as well try it out!"
- Then, he immediately started counting down without giving Cassandra any time to think.
- "Three! Two!"
- Looking at her bruised and battered employees, Cassandra was on the verge of giving in. She wasn't selfish and didn't want anyone to suffer unnecessarily because of her.
- Just then, someone suddenly took her hand just as she was about to bow to fate, and a male voice sounded from behind.
- "Don't be afraid, Cass. I'm here!"
- Cassandra turned to see an unfamiliar man. His handsome face, though strange, gave her a strange sense of familiarity and warmth.
- She even felt an inexplicable sense of security from the heat of his hand.
- However, she quickly came to her senses.
- Being held by a stranger in public wasn't appropriate. Besides, her heart still belonged to another man.
