Chapter 14 Investigation

  • Before Troy could respond with any heartfelt words, Kathleen's phone rang. She immediately answered the call.
  • "There's something urgent at the lab. I need to head back. Cass, keep an eye on him. With how well-built he is, don't let him go out and cause trouble."
  • With that, she gave an exaggerated squeeze to Troy's body and left with a playful grin.
  • She had come and gone so quickly that Troy was left standing there, dumbfounded.
  • That's it?
  • For the first time, he felt as if he had been toyed with.
  • Cassandra, still standing at the bathroom door, was quietly observing him.
  • Since every part of his body had already been seen, Troy decided to be bold. He asked with a smirk, "Cass, care to join me for a bath?"
  • Cassandra, still in her half-dressed state, stepped into the bathroom, her gaze filled with admiration. Her fingers traced lightly over Troy's body.
  • "Well, 10 years have gone and you've built yourself a solid set of muscles."
  • With a mischievous smile, she turned and walked out, leaving Troy in complete confusion.
  • "It's so unbelievable that I just got teased by a woman."
  • Later that night, after Cassandra had fallen asleep, Troy quietly slipped out of bed and made his way to the balcony. He pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
  • "How's the investigation coming along?"
  • "There isn't much new information, but you were right—just like you, all seven of your sisters have blank histories.
  • "The Geod has looked into countless records, but we haven't found any trace of their origins. Aside from being adopted by the old man, there's no birth record for any of them."
  • Troy had returned from Westenia for two reasons. Firstly, he wanted to help the Geod reestablish itself in Eldoria. Secondly, he wanted to investigate the true background of himself and his seven sisters.
  • Of course, he also needed to find the woman from 10 years ago to figure out exactly what she had done to him.
  • "Any other findings?" Troy asked.
  • "Yes. Among your seven sisters, the third and sixth sisters have somewhat unusual backgrounds.
  • "Your third sister, Cecil Sawyer, is an international assassin with connections to mercenaries. She's known by the alias 'Demon Cat', and she's particularly skilled in handling a wide range of weapons, both melee and firearms.
  • "As for your sixth sister, Tami Harrington, we've been unable to trace her identity. However, she's often in contact with Cecil."
  • Troy nodded. "Take your time investigating. The truth will come out eventually. Also, dig deeper into the old man. I have a feeling there's something off about him too. Also, have someone look into a woman named Louie Wyatt. Find out if she's connected to the group that kidnapped Brittany."
  • Just as he was about to hang up, the person on the other end of the line stopped him.
  • "Wait a minute, boss. Since the Geod has only a limited number of members back in Eldoria, there's something we need you to handle personally."
  • "As a member of the Geod, I'm ready to do my part. Just tell me what you need."
  • "There's a land auction happening tomorrow night. I've looked into it. The plot of land is quite large and in a prime location. If we can acquire it, it could be very useful."
  • "Got it. Send me the details. I'll take care of it tomorrow."
  • After hanging up, Troy received not only the auction details but also a full dossier on Louie.
  • There wasn't much in the dossier—it mostly contained sordid details about how Louie had used her body to climb the social ladder.
  • Nevertheless, it did confirm what Cassandra had told Troy—Louie's grudge against Brittany started over the lead role in a film.
  • It also turned out that Louie knew the thugs who had kidnapped Brittany. She had played a part in instigating them, with the other half of the blame falling on a young man named Miley Palmer.
  • It looked like Troy would have to confront these schemers soon. After all, if he didn't teach them a lesson, he wouldn't be living up to his reputation as the Reaper of the Geod.
  • Anyone who dared harm the people he cared about had to face the consequences.
  • The next morning, when Troy woke up, it was already 9 a.m. Cassandra was nowhere to be seen.
  • On the dining table, there was breakfast, along with a note listing the contact information of all seven sisters.
  • It seemed Cassandra was quite thoughtful in handling certain matters.
  • After finishing his breakfast, Troy dialed Lia's number.
  • "Hello, who's this?"
  • "Lia, it's me."
  • Lia immediately recognized Troy's voice. She laughed and said, "Why aren't you spending more time getting cozy with Cass? What made you suddenly call me?"
  • "Of course, I missed you, Lia. I want to get cozy with you, too."
  • "Bah! I don't believe a word you say. Cut to the chase—I'm busy at work."
  • Troy didn't waste time and asked, "What's going on with Brittany's case? Did those thugs confess yet?"
