Chapter 2 Two
- I got to the club and wiped my eyes with my napkin, cursing Jaden in my heart.
- He is the reason I am here. I hated everything about this place and never thought I would ever feel the taste of alcohol, but how else will I bear it?
- My parents are all out of town and I had lost both my boyfriend and the girl I called my best friend. While they would both be having the best night of their lives, I would be in grief like the fool I was turned into.
- I should have listened to my parents and stay away from him but instead I fell so hard. It hurts more than there was nothing I could do to change my miserable fate. I would be faced with humiliation and mockery in school when it spread that I had been dumped.
- How didn't I notice he never loved me? I was blind to see he just wanted to take my virginity to win a fucking dare game.
- My head was foggy and I was hardly seeing my path as tears blurred my vision. As I moved forward to the bar stand, I collided with someone, my face hitting his chest and the wine in his hand spilled, staining his white shirt.
- "Fuck." I gasped, covering my mouth as I quickly dipped my hand in my bag to fetch my napkin and clean the mess I had created.
- "Are you blind?" His deep angry voice lashed at me.
- "I am so sorry." I apologized and looked up to see the man I had ruined his clothes with. My jaw dropped and I couldn't move for a second as his haunting piercing blue eyes locked with mine.
- He was so strikingly handsome that I couldn't talk as I swallowed hard, peering at him. Although he seemed to be in his early thirties, he was damn gorgeous—dark hair and a chiseled jaw covered in dark scruff
- I noticed his initial angry look disappearing as his eyes studied me for a minute, searching through my face as if he was tying to fetch out something.
- "Sir, I...am very sorry...let me try and clean it." I stuttered, avoiding his charming gaze as I pressed the napkin on his chest which was broad and muscular.
- "There is no need." He held my hand and stopped me. "Use the cloth to dry your tears." He added with his cold voice and walked away.
- My eyes trailed his movement as he walked past me in his tall figure and went to the far corner with no one with him. I noticed he had a bottle of wine in his hand.
- I don't know who he is, but I can't deny every part of me was screaming he was the stranger that I would give my body even if it means seducing him with all the techniques Selene had taught me when she was trying to persuade me to stop being a nerdy innocent girl since I had all the asset women would die for.
- Without hesitation, I rushed to the bar and ordered for a bottle of vodka. Carrying it on the tray, I made my way to where he was and I dropped it on the table.
- His forehead creased as he looked up and squinted his eyes at me. I ignored and pulled out the chair.
- "Do you have anyone with you?" I asked and his frown deepened.
- "I don't have anyone, and I don't want anyone." He replied and I smiled and sat down.
- "Why?" I opened the bottle and filled my cup. His eyes lowered at it, a look of surprise as he watched me gulp down the full cup with my face squeezed tight.
- "You take that? Your appearance doesn't match at all."
- "This is my first time." I muttered with a deep grimace as the strong taste hit me in the head.
- "Really?"
- "Yeah."
- "Hmm, so you are here to get drunk." He asked, sipping his drink.
- "Yeah, and probably have my first sex too. Maybe all this will ease my pain and make me forget that my boyfriend was fucking my best friend and that he only dated me to take my virginity so he will win the dare game he made with his friend." I sighed as my heart grew heavy.
- I filled my cup and swallowed everything again as the scene of what happened in that room flashed back my memory hitting me in the chest.
- Tears streamed down and I felt more like a fool recalling that the flowers I bought was still there with the love letter I wrote.
- "Clean your tears. He doesn't deserve you either." He said handing his handkerchief to me.
- "Thank you." I smiled as I took it from him. "My name is Lena, and you?"
- "Leo." He replied, his eyes gazing on me as if he was staring at something magical.
- "You are pretty though. I hope you will find a better man that will treat you the way you deserve." He shrugged, sipping his drink as I gulped more shots down my throat, waiting for the alcohol to snatch my pain away but it didn't seem to be working.
- I could still recall everything and Jaden's words were still wrenching my heart.
- "I think you should stop taking more," Leo said holding my hand as he saw I was getting drunk but his touch made me shudder and the feeling was something I couldn't explain.
- He quickly took back his hand as if he also felt something.
- "If I stop, will you help me forget about him? Will you be able to make me forget everything? At least for a minute." I sniffed. "I regret not listening to my parents and staying away from him. He made me believe he..."
- My voice hitched in my throat as I saw Jaden walk into the club alone.
- "What is it?" Leo asked, tracing my gaze before looking back at me. "Who is that?"
- Jaden looked in my direction and I quickly leaned over to Leo and kissed him deep on his soft lips. Luckily, he didn't push me away and acted along. His hand cupped my chin as he went easily though he had confusion written all over his face.
- I could see Jaden pause his pace, staring at us with red eyes of anger and jealousy. Our eyes met and I ignored him pushing my lips deep in with my eyes closed.
- It was clear he never believed to see me here, especially not with another man just a few hours after he dumped me.
- Leo's lips were soft and tender and even though the kiss was brief, I enjoyed every bit of it.
- “Hey!” Jaden's voice broke in, shattering the moment as we both stared at him.
- I squinted at him with a frown on my face as if he was a stranger and Leo looked at me as if asking if I knew him but as he saw my expression he gave Jaden a cold stare.
- “How can we help you?” Leo asked him with a grimace.
- Jaden ignored him, facing me.
- “What are you doing here? When did you…” he tried asking but I cut him off.
- “Why do you care?” My eyes narrowed and his eyes widened as he peered at me as if he was searching for something in my eyes.
- He looked surprised at how I was acting and my cold stare really left him confused.
- “It is either you are good at hiding it or you have really moved on from me. The latter can’t be possible.” He said in a low voice, trying to hold my hand, but I pulled back.
- “Diane, we have to talk. I know you are hurt about what happened, but…”
- “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Can you please leave me alone. We have nothing to talk about!” I seethed, looking away from him but he held her chin and pulled my face back to him.
- “I still love you!” The words came from his mouth but it reeked of lies.
- “We can straighten things out and get back together. She means nothing to me and you are the one that means the world to me. It was a mistake!” He breathed but I felt irritated instead. He really thinks I will fall for his lies.
- “What nonsense are you saying?” I scoffed trying to wriggle my hand out of his grip. His touch was making my skin crawl from disgust. The more I looked at him, the more I felt incredibly stupid. He used my heart to play, and I can't forget the loud bang of his door when he jammed them immediately I left.
- “Leave me alone.” I whined but he tightened his grip, shaking his head. I looked at Leo and it was like he was able to read my mind.
- “Hey, let go of her!” He snapped at Jaden, his tone commanding and stern.
- “Is he the man? The one making you act stubborn as if we are not the best match.” Jaden snorted, gritting his teeth and glaring at Leo who stood tall in his intimidating height, both hands in his pocket.
- “Stay out of this, man, and go take care of your family at home!” Jaden added, peering at him in disdain.
- “You have five seconds to get off her!” Leo retorted and his eyes seemed to grow darker as he pulled out his hands, clenching his fists. He took a step closer to Jaden and I could hear his heart pounding hard and faster.
- “You are here kissing my girlfriend and trying to give orders? Are you so daft not to see we are trying to talk? You are the one to get off her!” He stuttered, trying to hide the fear that crept inside him but his tone was giving him away.
- “Let us go to my house. We have to talk and I won’t be taking no for an answer. Stop being so difficult we both know how much you want me. We both know you love no other person than me! We are lovers!” He grunted in frustration and grabbed me forward but Leo caught hold of me at that moment.
- “You are not taking her away,” He retorted and Jaden growled in anger.
- “What the heck!” He turned to face Leo and was met with a punch that I didn't even see coming. He released his grip from me immediately, holding his face as he grunt in pain and rage.
- “What shit are you on?! How dare you hit me?! Do you know my father?!” He roared and I almost laughed at him. He was really shaking in fear, scouring for his phone in his pocket, but Leo closed the gap between them and slapped it off his hand.
- He grabbed Jaden by the shirt. “Don’t play with me! You will regret it!”
- I could see the fierceness in his eyes and those arms were so strong and firm that Jaden couldn't even attempt to free himself. He surely knew trying to fight Leo would be suicidal.
- “Okay okay okay. No need to create a scene!” he raised my hands in submission. “I will leave now.”
- Leo released him and he bent down and pick his phone, his face gloomy with shame and humiliation. His eyes were bloodshot as they glared back at me.
- "I swear, you will regret this. See you in school!" He growled, wiping the blood on the side of his lips but I felt no fear at his threat.
- "Get out of here!" Leo's voice made him shudder in fear. He could only glare and grit his teeth as he made his way out.
- "Thank you for saving me from that idiot!" I thanked Leo with a smile and Jaden seemed to hear me as he paused his
- pace and turned to me.
- "I wonder who will save you at school." He rolled his eyes in anger, storming out and kicking the chairs on his way.
