• I desperately wanted - after the car pulled away and I was sure that Sondra was gone - to ask Melissa about their relationship - but I knew I would be crossing a line. I was pretty sure the minister's wife would give me an honest answer - but, honestly, I didn't need to know. It wasn't like I was fucking Sondra. I truly couldn't care much less about what she said, did, or thought.
• As Emily and I looked over the selection of sushi rolls, Mrs. Anderson told us what each one was called and what they contained. None of them had raw fish in them. She had taken some kind of class and knew way more about all of it than I really wanted to know - I was just hungry.
