Chapter 8
- Maddox
- Before Dagmar walks out of the room, she looks at me and nods indicating that it is fine. After that the Council members tell us that they want to talk to all the Alpha’s.
- So, I send my Pack members out of the room and so do the other Alpha’s. Their Pack members are more reluctant than mine to leave, but they have no choice. As I sit down, I make sure that I leave the mind-link open to a few of my Pack members.
- They need to know what is going on in here, so they can jump in to action if that is necessary. I leave the link open to Rico, James, Sam, and Julian. I inform the rest of them that they are free to do whatever they like.
- The Council members start to ask questions and the responses of the Alpha’s have my Lycan on edge. “There is no way anyone could have survived the attack; she is an imposter.
- Alpha Maddox is using this to gain more power.” Alpha Jonas says, while looking at me. I just shake my head and push back my Lycan. They keep at it for a few more minutes and then Council member Eva cuts in.
- “Gentlemen, I know that she is not an imposter. I met with her the day after the attack. Seeing her injuries and listening to her story, I knew she was telling the truth.
- As for Alpha Maddox wanting more power, I doubt that. He could have taken over without revealing who she was. So that still leaves us with the question as to why the three of you did not seek our approval for using the territory.
- Anyone care to explain that?” And she looks at the Alpha’s one by one. Alpha Adam is the first to open is his mouth, but it is not to answer her. “Dagmar attacked Adam for no reason whatsoever. What are you going to do about that? Alpha Maddox just ignored it.” He asks.
- My head snaps up and I am about to lose control, when Council member Oren looks him dead in the eye and says: “I hate people that try to make accusations and leave out the truth. Maybe you would like to rephrase your statement.”
- That is when we all figure out why he is here, Council member Oren has a gift and that gift just turned against Alpha Adam. A small smile glides across my face, when I see they also realize that this is not in their favor.
- To ease the situation, I just tell them that Andrew made a remark that Dagmar reacted to. But I am also sure that Council member Oren has already read my mind and knows what the comment was.
- Dagmar
- As we enter the Pack-house, we get this eerie feeling that something is off. Turning towards the living-room I see that the four Alpha’s are absent, and my Squad members have glooming faces.
- Jenna walks up to me, and Julian is right behind her. If Julian is coming to me, then something is definitely wrong. I open our mind-link and ask what is going on.
- Julian is the first one to respond. He tells me that after I left the other Council members had started questioning the Alpha’s and that they had accused me of being an imposter.
- That no one could have survived the attack that day and that Alpha Maddox was after the Packs to gain more power. I cannot help but laugh out loud, this is insane.
- Then I hear Sam say that the other Alpha’s have also stated that I attacked Andrew without provocation. That makes me laugh even more, now I know for sure that these Packs are insane. I shake my head and walk over to the kitchen.
- The Omega’s are preparing dinner and I ask if they need help with anything. Two Omega’s look at each other and one of them nods.
- I ask her what her name is, and she tells me her name is Samantha, Sam for short. “Well, Sam. Why don’t you tell me what I can do for you?” She walks to a door which leads to the basement, and I follow her down the stairs.
- As I look around, I see an open door to a small room, I see a couple of benches and wonder what it is for. As if she read my mind, Samantha turns to me and says: “That is where they lock us up when it is Full Moon.”
- My eyes grow wide, and I have to dig deep to control my Wolf. I ask her if she knows if this is the same for the other Packs and she nods.
- “I am going to kill those assholes. They will pay for this.”
- My Wolf is turning frantic in my mind, and I have to give it my all to control her. I make sure my face is gentle before I look at Sam again and ask her again what I can do for her.
- She points to a huge sack of potatoes and tells me that it is for dinner. She explains that they normally would have to do this down here even though none of them like being down here.
- I do not think twice and hoist the sack on my shoulder and walk back up the stairs.
- Getting to the door I find out that someone has locked it. I turn my right shoulder towards the door and slam right through it. That got the attention of my Squad, and they all rush in to the kitchen.
- It does not take long before Matteo figures out what had happened, and Donnie and Matthew have to hold him back. The mischievous smile drops from Sienna’s face when they manage to pull Matteo back just before he is to get a hold on her arm.
- In the meantime, other members of the Pack have walked in to the kitchen as well. Owen, who is Alpha Nathan’s son, turns to me and yells: “Keep those fucking idiots in line. She is the daughter of a Beta.”
- I shrug my shoulders and put the sack of potatoes on the counter. “There you go, Sam. If you need any other assistance, then you can ask any member of my Squad for help.”
